The sûrah opens with these letters from the Arabic alphabet to draw attention to the miracle of the Qur’ân, which, though written in the people’s tongue, cannot be emulated. These are divine verses of the Book and a perspicuous Qur’ân, which stands evident of enlightenment and imparts knowledge, and wisdom.
